The Hut and Cottage at Tan-y-Garth ('under the hill' in Welsh) are owned by Gwydyr Mountain Club and are situated one and a half miles from the centre of Capel Curig in the heart of Snowdonia. The properties lie in a very peaceful, scenic area of woodland at the base of Moel Siabod, and the area around Tan-y-Garth is rich in wildlife, birds and pipistrelle bats. The Gwydyr forest, run by the Forestry Commission, is close by providing plenty of low-level walking, or scope for mountain biking
The properties are, however, very conveniently placed for amenities with an extensive range of shops only 5 miles away in Betws y Coed. The popular Tyn y Coed Hotel , serving a good range of food and drinks is 10 minutes walk away.
Tan-y-Garth is on OS Map, Land ranger 1:50,000 series - Sheet 115 - Snowdon & surrounding area - Grid ref: 737568 Postcode: LL24 0EB

From Betwys y Coed follow the A5 towards Bangor for 4 miles. On reaching the Capel Curig village boundary sign continue past a lay-by and 30 mph sign and then make a hair-pin turn left over the stone bridge (Pont Cyfyng). Follow the minor road past a few cottages and a converted chapel on the right and after about half a mile Tan-y-Garth is on the right, just up the track marked by a public footpath sign.

From the North-West on the A5, pass through Capel Curig towards Betwys y Coed. The turnoff over the bridge is 0.5 miles from Capel Curig, just after passing the Tyn y Coed hotel on your left
