Officially the Sandstone Trail is 55km/34 miles long. There is around 3,700 feet of ascent overall but no big hills and the southern section is flat. The route will be South to North, Whitchurch to Frodsham. The end of the trail are marked with a sandstone obelisk outside the Bears Paw Public House at Frodsham.

A walkers guide to the trail can be found by using this link: https://www.sandstoneridge.org.uk/lib/F225692.pdf

The aim is to complete the entire trail in a day.  Start will be Whitchurch at 6.00am and if we manage a good pace, 3mph, we should arrive in Frodsham by 8pm. There are few shops or refreshment stops on the route so it will be a case of travelling light but with enough snacks and drinks.

The route can be divided into 6 sections or roughly similar length
