Saturday Walk: Brown Clee Hill
The area and details of the meet
The proposed walk will start and finish at a large lay-by on the B 4364 Ludlow to Bridgnorth road (GR: SO 593809).The lay-by is just north east of the village of Cleedownton and large enough for a good number of cars and it is on the right hand side of the road travelling north east from the village on a very prominent left bend.
From the Wirral it is probably best to travel as far south as Ludlow on the A49 and then take the A4117 towards Cleobury Mortimer and then shortly after the B 4364 is signposted for Bridgnorth. An alternative route would be to drive to Bridgnorth and travel south west on the B4364.
The walk is a circular walk taking in some forested sections, open moorland and uses sections of the the Jack Mytton Way and the Shropshire Way and visits both Clee Burf and Abdon Burf the highest of all the Shropshire hills. If the weather is good we can expect spectacular views over most of the Shropshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty including the Stipperstones, the long Mynd and Wenlock Edge as well as views into the mountains of mid-Wales to the west and the midlands to the east.
If you wish to join me then let me know and we will wait for you.The start time is 1030 at the lay-by.
