The Old Homestead is at the head of the Lorton Valley in the northern Lake District, almost mid way between Cockermouth and Keswick. The garden is said to have wonderful views looking down the Buttermere Valley, across to Skiddaw (see picture) as well as Grasmoor and Red Pike There is plenty of other fine walking in the area.
